French jackets made in our Paris workshop
Many steps are involved in making Nabou jackets, and they are all carried out in France, in our Parisian workshop:
- cutting the different pieces
- arranging the patchwork patterns
- making the lining
- final bias-tape assembly
- attaching the snap fasteners
Making our jackets in our own workshop allows us to remain directly involved in every stage of the design process and to adapt our work to the unique characteristics of each fabric. Unlike an industrial workshop, we work with small quantities and rely heavily on manual craftsmanship throughout production.
Discover the features of our jackets made in France
All our jackets are designed with a unisex approach, featuring cuts intended to fit a variety of body types. The same style can therefore look different depending on the size chosen and how it is worn.

Made to order in France from denim and wool
Each Nabou garment is made to order in France, in our Parisian workshop, so that we only produce pieces that will actually be worn. This method of manufacturing also allows us to adapt to the available quantities of each fabric and maintain small-batch artisanal production.
Our jackets are made of denim, a sturdy and durable material composed of 100% cotton threads. This fabric, invented in Nîmes in the 17th century, features timeless shades perfect for unisex clothing, ranging from blue to black or grey. All our jackets are lined with wool fabrics, a natural material that keeps you warm in winter and breathes in summer.
Nabou, a French denim jacket brand
Are Nabou jackets made entirely in France?
Yes. Our jackets are made entirely in our Parisian workshop: cutting the different pieces, arranging the patchwork patterns, assembly, making the lining and attaching the snap buttons.
However, this does not mean that all the components used in our clothing were themselves made locally: for example, the textiles may come from different places. We therefore distinguish between the origin of the materials and the place where the garment is made: the materials may come from different countries, while the transformation of these materials into a Nabou jacket is carried out in Paris.

Are the fabrics also made in France?
Not necessarily. Nabou works primarily with existing textiles, the origin of which depends on the fabrics we are able to source.
We choose to prioritize the use of materials that have already been produced rather than placing orders for the production of new fabrics. Depending on the rolls we find, we may work with denims in slightly varying shades or weights.
This approach means that we cannot always guarantee a French origin for the raw materials. However, the jacket itself is made in our Parisian workshop.
For us, it is important to distinguish between these two concepts. A jacket can be made in France using fabrics from other countries. At Nabou, our commitment is primarily to local, artisanal production and the use of existing textiles whenever possible.

Why manufacture the jackets in small batches?
We make our jackets in small batches because this suits both the materials we use and the way we work.
Existing textiles are often available in limited quantities. When we find a particular denim, we may not have enough to reproduce exactly the same jacket several hundred times. We therefore adapt the number of pieces we make to the quantities actually in stock.
This constraint also becomes a defining feature of our collections: some combinations of colors or materials are available only for a limited time and may change from one collection to the next.
Making small batches also allows us to maintain an artisanal production process. Each jacket requires numerous cutting, assembly, and finishing steps, all carried out in our workshop. Our goal is therefore not to produce the largest possible number of pieces, but to keep quantities compatible with the time needed to make them.

What is the price of a Nabou jacket?
The price of a Nabou creation primarily reflects how it is made. Our garments are crafted by hand in our Paris workshop and produced in very small quantities or made to order.
Each jacket requires several steps: preparing and selecting the fabrics, cutting the pieces, creating the patchwork if applicable, assembling the garment, making the lining, joining the different parts, attaching the snap fasteners and finishing.
A significant part of the cost of a jacket therefore reflects the time needed to make it. A locally made artisanal collection has a different cost structure from an industrial operation built around producing large quantities of identical garments.
The price also takes into account the materials and supplies needed to make each piece, as well as the running costs of our Paris workshop.
Our aim is to offer a price that reflects local production in small quantities and the considerable amount of manual work involved.
Are you planning to offer other clothing made in France?
Yes. Although Nabou is currently mainly focused on jackets, we hope to gradually expand our wardrobe.
New designs for jackets and coats may complement our existing collections. We are also considering developing other clothing categories, such as shirts, as well as certain accessories.
However, the aim is not to rapidly increase the number of styles. We want to develop each new product gradually, working on the pattern, materials and manufacturing methods before its launch.
Future designs will continue to be developed according to the same principles as our current jackets: designed and made in Paris, at the scale of our workshop, and using existing materials.
What are some French jacket brands?
We’ll soon be putting together a selection of the best responsible-label brands for women’s and men’s jackets (in addition to Nabou, of course!).
Do you offer men’s jackets made in France?
Yes. Nabou offers men's jackets made in our workshop in Paris.
However, we don't develop a separate men's collection and women's collection. All our jackets are designed with a unisex approach, with cuts intended to be worn by people with different body types.
Our inspirations include pieces such as work jackets, bombers and various utility garments, whose shapes lend themselves particularly well to gender-neutral cuts.
Do you also offer women’s jackets made in Paris?
Yes. The Nabou collections also include women’s jackets designed and made in our Paris workshop.
As with our men’s styles, however, this is not a collection specifically for women. Our jackets have been developed with unisex cuts that can be worn by different body types. The length, body volume and shoulder line have been carefully considered so that the styles work on a range of silhouettes.
This approach allows us to move beyond the traditional distinction between menswear and womenswear. We prefer to design a style and then let everyone choose the size and way of wearing it that suit them.
Women can therefore find all our denim jackets in our collections, from long-sleeved patchwork styles to our sleeveless jackets.
